Scottish Scenery & Greenery

Updated: Dec 28, 2020

As magical as the Scottish cities and towns are, they do not compare to the natural wonders that Scotland offers.  As small as the country is, it is full of geographical diversity -- from mountains, to beaches, to lochs, to cliffs, and mo(o)re.

Loch Ness

If I had to describe Loch Ness in one word, I would say eerie. I mean, it is most commonly known as the deep watered home of a long-necked, hump backed water monster. Movies are made about “her” and Scottish folklore perpetuates the legend of this creature. As cool as it would’ve been to see the Loch Ness monster emerge from the depths, while visiting, all I saw was peaceful, calm water and some small fish scurrying about. Located in the Scottish Highlands, Loch Ness is surrounded by rolling hills. All you see is blue and green -the colors of nature- as far as the eye can see. So, if I had two words to describe this infamous loch, I’d say eerily beautiful.

Loch Ness is definitely worth a visit, and who knows; maybe you’ll be able to get Nessie on camera!

Isle of Skye

The Isle of Skye is another beautiful part of the Scottish highlands (but what part isn’t?!)

The Isle of Skye is known for its rugged landscapes and timeless natural beauty. Scattered about Skye are cliffs, mountains, waterfalls, lochs, beaches and medieval castles, too. Looking around, I felt like I was in a whole new world; a world I had only come close to looking at computer screensavers or calendar photos. Not only is Skye pretty to look at it, it is also rich in history. As my dad says, Skye’s history goes as far back as the age of dinosaurs. This is the same land that different clans called home. The same land inhabited by diverse wildlife such a sea eagles, red deer, and whales!
